The Shannon Reilly Trio In Concert

Another brilliant evening’s entertainment at the Church in Belchford in conjunction with Lincolnshire Rural Touring.

A lovely evening in the  packed Church enjoying the beautiful singing of Shannon Reilly, accompanied by Warren on double bass and Pat McCarthy on Guitar both musicians are virtuosos who have played with many famous bands and singers.

The popular jazz with a dazzling selection of songs ranged across the decades from the 30s to the present day.  Unfortunately this was their last gig on this year’s  Lincolnshire Rural Touring series but, as Shannon is a Lincolnshire artist, it is well worth keeping your eyes open for them playing another gig here in Lincolnshire.

A big thank you to all on the PCC, who organised this lovely evening, especially Peter and June.  I must say I am looking forward to the next concert.  They have been a wonderful opportunity to see an amazing range of wonderful events so a big thank you must go to the Lincolnsire Rural Touring.

If you want to know more about the band, go to their website at here, their soundcloud site here https://soundcloud.com/the-shannon-reilly-trio you can listen to their range of songs.  Here is their YouTube site. youtube.com/results?search_query=the+shannon+reilly+trio

I am already looking forward to the next event in the Church.

THE HUT PEOPLE AT THE VILLAGE HALL

A different sort of music this time, from The Hut People, a duo all the way from Hull this time.

Accordionist Sam Pirt and Percussionist Gary Hammond entertained us with diverse music styles influenced by folk music from as far afield as Scandinavia and Kenya where Sam lived for a while. Gary is a self confessed percussion geek with hundreds of  weird and very wonderful instruments which made the most amazing variety of sounds. The two blended perfectly to provide both moving and stirring  performances.  It is easy to see why they have been  voted number 1 in Musicports Festival poll two years running.

The lovely music was interspersed with interesting and humorous explanations of their work and Gary’s assorted instruments.

Another brilliant evening organised by Caroline and supported by Lincolnshire Rural Touring.  Lets hope Caroline can find the time and energy to organise another one.  Well done.

Thanks to Lincolnshire Rural Touring (http://www.lincsruraltouring.co.uk/), Caroline and of course The Hut People (http://www.thehutpeople.co.uk/).

BANE, FROM LINCOLNSHIRE RURAL TOURING

Was on October 4th

presented by Whitebone Productions

A brilliant evening’s entertainment.  Joe Bone played the detective, the sassy secretary, the various crooks and every other character in this clever and hilarious performance.   Accompanied by a perfectly timed and beautifully matching guitar soundtrack it was a very clever hilarious evenings entertainment.

Another great success from Lincolnshire Rural Touring.  Thanks to Caroline for organising this for us. Keep your eyes open for the next event in February.

Kosmos Play at Belchford for the Lincolnshire Rural Touring Scheme

A beautiful evening’s entertainment in the Church.  Kosmos’s performance lived up to expectations and was  entrancing.  I will post better video clips as soon as I have uploaded them.  More information about  Kosmos at www.kosmosensemble.com

At a meeting in the Blue Bell several villagers chose their favourites for the next two events to be held in Belchford as part of the Lincolnshire Rural Touring programme.  Something to look forward to in the Autumn.

Keep your eyes open for notices in the newsletter for the next one.

Kosmos In Concert

Kosmos is a vibrant and innovative string trio who, inspired by traditional music, explore the boundaries of Western Classical and Contemporary music with Jazz, Gypsy, Arabic, Klezmer and Tango influences.

The ensemble's recent highlights include broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and performances at the Royal Albert Hall, and after delighting audiences on their recent tour of the county, Kosmos return to perform entrancing dance rhythms, soulful improvisation and Gypsy passion, all  delivered with inimitable panache and virtuoso technique.

A Cartoon History of Here

Tony Hubbard and Ian McMillan performed  “A Cartoon History of Here” on Thursday 3rd February, in Belchford Church of St Peter and St Paul, in the latest performance to come to Belcford from the excellent Lincolnshire Rural Touring initiative, which brings National class professional entertainers to village halls.

An absolutely hilarious evening of incredibly quckfire humour from Ian Macmillan, with Tony Husband drawing incredible cartoons as the stories developed.  I was in fits of laughter for all of the evening.  Ian’s descriptions of signs he has “borrowed” from village halls was so funny, followed by a totally mad story/song created by getting the audience to provide the words which he and Tony turned into a mad evening of fantastic, ridiculous humour.

Photos and video of the evening are available here -

.

Many thanks to Caroline for organising this, the third in the series, so well, and Belchford Ahead for underwriting it.   Find out more about Ian and Tony at their websites -http://www.uktouring.org.uk/ian-mcmillan/  and http://www.tonyhusband.co.uk/

Our next performance that Caroline has organised for us is a musical evening with a string trio called Kosmos.  This will be in the Village Hall, Belchford on 16th or April (repairs permitting).  Find out more at  http://www.lincsruraltouring.co.uk/show/kosmos_in_concert_1
